LIVING YOUR LIFE

Workshop Information

Below is some further information which we hope will assist you in choosing which Workshop you wish to attend:

1. Living Your Life (Colin Mair)
Users lifestyle choices still do not lead change, even although it is precisely such choices that change is supposed to support. This Workshop will explore these issues and possible ways of addressing them.

2. Silent Voices (Philomena de Lima)
Despite the policy emphasis on equality and social inclusion, there continue to be a number of people in the Highlands that are invisible and lack a voice: homeless people, minority ethnic groups, the deaf community and others. Many of these groups lack access to information and advice about services and have poor access to services in general. This Workshop will explore who the invisible groups/individuals are, what they have in common and how we might reach out to them.

3. Roads to Recovery (Gregor Henderson)
Everyone needs good mental health. This Workshop will look at ways of achieving and sustaining this in the context of people's lives.

4. Getting a Window on Your Life (Brian Hill)
How ready access to video can help users and carers to gather material that illustrates their lives. By the end of the Workshop participants will produce video footage.

5. Getting People Involved in Improving their own Health in the Highlands (Moira Paton)
Healthy Communities are one of the main components of the Highland Community Plan. This Workshop will come up with people's top 10 priorities for improving health in the Highlands and look at different ways of involving communities in action for better health.
