How to use this service.

Lochaber Community Car Scheme

Using the Scheme
To use the scheme, call the telephonist in your area. You will be asked a few questions about your transport needs and then registed as a passenger.

Try to phone between 0900 and 1700 Monday to Friday unless it is to rearrange or cancel a journey. If you can, please give us as much notice as possible.

Remember, you can make as many journeys as you like but, as we rely on volunteer drivers it is not always possible to provide a service, especially at weekends when there are fewer drivers available.

Contacts
There are local contacts in most areas. (These will be published here soon.)

You can contact Benny MacDonald, the Car Scheme Coordinator, at the LCCF office on:

01397 701222

Costs
The cost of a journey from January 1st 2002 is 20p per mile while the passenger is in the car. For short trips there is a minimum charge of 50p and the maximum for any journey is 5.00. This remains the same for one or more passengers so costs can be shared. Drivers receive expenses for the whole journey so it is not necessary to give donations to the car scheme.
