WHAT IS HUG? HUG is the Highland Users Group, a network of users of mental health services in the Highlands. HUG has 13 branches across the Highlands with approximately 300 members. Our main aim is to improve the way in which we, as users of mental health services, are treated. HUG campaigns to improve the rights, services and treatments of people with mental health problems and strives to increase the communication between service users in the Highlands. HUG works on a local, Highland and national level to influence policy and planning, and to encourage improvements in the management and delivery of mental health services HUG also operates a successful Communications Project which aims to challenge the stigma surrounding mental illness, through the education of the public and professionals. THE
WIDER PICTURE HUG is supported by the Highland Community Care Forum, which is a charitable organisation providing a platform for users of community care services and their carers. |
