Carers & Employment

Carers Week in June culminated on Friday with our Carers and Employment Conference which provided an opportunity to learn more about 'family friendly' policies.

Keynote speakers explored three main topics:

• Opportunities in Employment
• Carer Friendly Employment Policies
• Supporting Carers to get back to Work

The afternoon session gave those attending the chance to look at a range of educational, employment and volunteering opportunities.

The speakers spoke about carers and employment from their perspective:

• Pam Courcha, carer and carer representative on the Care Commission
• Kateryna Zoryk, Senior Personnel Adviser, Highland Council, ‘carer-friendly employers’.
• Catriona Eagle, Director Careers Scotland, ‘Supporting carers to get back to work’

The speakers shared their views, knowledge, and experience on the subject with over 50 carer and others who attended.
