 Building Relationships

To communicate and build relationships with individuals and communities to ensure that they recognise the HCCF Network as the natural place to go with their concerns about community care issues

What have we achieved?

The Local Community Care Fora are at the hub of their communities:

  • Producing newsletters.
  • Running meetings that get things done.
  • Proving the need for and piloting new services.

Gairloch Forum has long recognised the need to take time with carers in a more relaxed setting. The group has seen a regular rise in numbers and puts a lot of emphasis on having fun. One carer says 'the group is a gateway to raise issues through Kerry, the Forum Facilitator'.

With each edition of 'The Bulletin' the Carers Project Newsletter, there is an increase in enquiries to the Helpline - publicity on a free holiday for carers resulted in 16 carers from Highland being offered the chance to go to Blackpool.

Between April 2000 and March 2001 534 carers saw the Carers Helpline as the natural place to go with their concerns, representing a 44% rise from the previous year. The Helpline is open for 15 hours per week.

The Carers Project also communicates directly with 350 carers through its Highland-wide Carers Network.
