In addition, each Local Forum plans and monitors its work and provides us with its own reports. The main thrust of HCCF’s work is, of course, enabling those in our network to speak out about important issues. We continue to be active in the exchange of ideas and information - through newsletters and regular bulletins produced by projects and forums, and more generally in the representation of our members needs and wants. However, we have gone beyond the medium of print. The HCCF web site continues to provide public information about what we do and offers a contact point for those who might wish to become involved. The HUG web site, in particular provides space online for members to contribute their creative writing and visual arts work to make more personal statements about their experiences of mental illness and mental health services. Increasingly we are looking to provide interactive ways for users and carers to participate online and have begun to explore the use of bulletin boards and instant messaging. We are also using video to help our members communicate. We have the facilities to record and edit contributions on digital video and DVD - anything from testimonies to complete short programmes on topics of interest to our members - and offer these as their contribution to meetings or committees or as training materials for professionals and volunteers. All of the reports and other publications mentioned here are available from HCCF in print or from our web site. In many cases alternate versions are available including large print or audio. Where indicated, some material (such as HUG reports and newsletters) are available direct from a Forum or project and may also be found on its own web site. Please call or email HCCF for more information.
